23rd February - It never gets any easier

Dipping that is, Why do i feel inclined to drive for 90 minutes without any real Info? However had I Actually seen the Paddyfield Warbler at Pagham Harbor today then I probably wouldn't sound bitter...

So, you can guess where I've been today... With Ashley Howe down from Cumbria for the week some Birding was arranged, we both thought the wintering Paddyfield would be worth a shot and then Snow Buntings at Hayling Island after. It took a good 90 minutes to arrive on site, and once there realization that it wasn't going to be easy set in. The bird is ranging quite far between different reed-beds some of which are very distant, A flyover Ruff and 7 Whitefronts were scant consolation to the fact we dipped the target bird. We then went in search for a Fry-up and Kitti's on Hayling Island Delivered a Blinding Breakfast with a Mug of tea, and once full we had a crack for the Snow Buntings. It took a little while to locate them but I picked them up flying in and landed on the beach, From here we had ridiculous views down to 15 foot (I could only just focus my scope) We were both sat on some news of a "Green Winged Teal or Hybrid" at Farlington Marshes, A lifer for me and when It was confirmed we headed that way! Ashley wanted a quick look for the Shore Lark but unfortunately dipped. Once at Farlington we nailed the teal almost straight away and It showed well before flying over the wall into the sun.
